EXCLUSIVE: imac desktop delay is Apple ‘buying opportunity’ – anlaysts

Analysts at Needham & Co. begin to see the temporary imac desktop drought as representing a purchasing chance for Apple stock, the organization stated inside a research report launched today.

Analysts Charles Wolf and Justin Udelhofen stated: “Near-term weakness presents a great purchasing chance, because the problem is certainly one of supply, not demand”. Needham & Co “reiterates” its ‘buy’ rating around the company’s stock.

Watching the problem, the analysts say: “Unhealthy news is the fact that Apple stopped manufacture of its current imac desktop within the expectation it would ship the brand new model earlier than this.”

Although it accepts that getting no iMacs to provide for purchase through August may impact slightly against Apple’s bottom-line (an believed impact of 5 cents per share on Apple’s EPS), the analysts condition: “It is really an outstanding purchasing chance”.

“First, it’s a supply, not really a demand issue. What’s important would be that the new model is going to be readily available for the Christmas selling season.

“This is a non-event if Apple hadn’t stop manufacture of its current imac desktop,” they report.

“The actual great news is the fact that Apple will introduce a brand new redesigned imac desktop. I was formerly uncertain regarding the timing.”

However, the analysts encourage Apple to keep its aggressiveness on cost: “The critical issue would be the new model’s cost. Apple must drive the entry-level imac desktop cost below $1,000 from $1,200 presently whether it wishes to capture Home windows customers who’ve bought an ipod device and our now thinking about purchasing a Mac,” they warn.
